Eczema And Food Allergies

Many people know that food reactions can cause eczema. But did you know that eczema can cause food allergies? People with eczema have “leaky skin”. The impaired skin barrier can allow food proteins to sensitize the immune system and later trigger food allergy.

Most people don’t put food on their skin regularly. However, infants and toddlers can get food on their hands, cheeks, and surprisingly other parts of their bodies. Another route is skin care products. You can find eggs, gluten, corn, dairy, peanuts, and other common allergens in skin care products.

A lot of my work with eczema involves repairing and strengthening the skin barrier. I do this both externally and internally. If you are interested in this work, please sign up for a free phone consultation to learn more.
